Going Beyond the Basics: Strength Training and Pilates Practice with Stellar

Strength Training and Pilates: Why Doing Both Changes Everything

There is a moment that most Stellar Bodies clients recognize somewhere around their eighth or tenth class. The shake starts to feel familiar. The movements that once required all of your focus begin to feel like second nature. And a new question surfaces: what comes next?

That question is a good sign. It means The Method is working. And the answer, for a lot of clients, is adding intentional strength training to the mix.

Not because Pilates is not enough. It is a complete, serious workout on its own. But when you pair The Method with targeted strength work, something shifts. The results compound. The body gets more capable in more directions. And the practice deepens in ways that are hard to fully explain until you have felt it.

Here is what that looks like at Stellar Bodies, and why it might be the right next step for you.

Why Strength Training and The Method Work So Well Together

The Stellar Method builds deep, stabilizing strength. It works the muscles that most training ignores, the ones that support the spine, control rotation, and keep the body functioning well under load. Time under tension, resistance and counter-resistance, controlled movement throughout the full range of motion. That is the foundation.

Strength training builds on top of it. When your stabilizers are strong and your body moves well, traditional strength work becomes more effective and safer. You recruit more muscle, move with better mechanics, and recover more efficiently.

The two approaches are not competing. They are complementary. And at Stellar Bodies, the class formats are designed with that in mind.

What Stellar Bodies Offers Beyond the Basics

Both the Buckhead and West Midtown studios offer class formats built for clients who are ready to go further.

Low-Impact Strength Classes

For clients who want to build strength without loading their joints the way traditional lifting does, our low-impact strength classes are the right fit. The emphasis is on precision, control, and progressive resistance, all within a format that protects the body while genuinely challenging it. You will build real strength. You will also feel it the next day.

Time Under Tension

Time under tension is one of the most effective principles in strength development, and it is central to how Stellar Bodies classes are structured. By extending the duration your muscles are engaged in each movement, these sessions build muscular endurance and strength in a way that shorter, faster workouts do not reach. If you want to understand why The Method works as well as it does, this is a big part of the answer.

Strength Redefined

Strength Redefined is a class format built for clients who are ready to use The Machine at its full potential. It combines the core principles of The Stellar Method with targeted full-body strength work, using controlled movement and intentional resistance to challenge every major muscle group. It is not about doing more. It is about doing it with more intention.

Private and Group Options

Every client comes with a different history, different goals, and a different pace. That is why Stellar Bodies offers both private sessions and group classes, so the experience can actually fit the person taking it.

Private sessions give you dedicated one-on-one time with an instructor who can focus entirely on your movement, your form, and your specific goals. If you are working around an injury, building back from a long break, or simply want more personalized coaching, a private session is worth it.

Group classes offer something different. The shared energy of a room full of people working hard at the same time has a real effect on what you are willing to do. Stellar Bodies group classes are structured so that every level is challenged and no one is left behind.

Both options are available at the Buckhead and West Midtown locations.

If You Are Still Getting Started

If you are newer to The Method and have not yet found your footing in the basics, that is exactly where to begin. The strength training class formats are built to grow with you, but the foundation matters.

Start with Stellar Basics. Learn how to move on The Machine. Build the core stability that makes everything else more effective. Then, when you are ready, the progression into more dynamic strength work will make sense in your body, not just on paper.

New clients can start with 3 classes for $55 or 2 weeks unlimited for $120. Visit the intro offer page to get started. If you know someone who has been curious about The Method, our referral program is worth sharing.

A Few Habits That Make the Practice Stronger

The work you do in class matters. So does everything around it. A few things worth keeping in mind as your practice develops:

  • Know what you are working toward. Specific goals, whether that is building core strength, improving posture, or progressing to a more advanced class format, give the practice direction
  • Show up consistently. Two to three sessions a week is the sweet spot for most clients. The results that come from regularity are different from what any single great class can produce
  • Pay attention to your body. Knowing when to push and when to recover is a skill. Developing it makes you a better athlete and keeps you training longer
  • Stay open to trying new formats. The class that challenges you most is usually the one you were not sure about
  • Train alongside people. The community at Stellar Bodies is one of the things clients talk about most. Use it
